Description
Under the general direction of the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Manager, Marketing and Creative Development is accountable for:
- Managing all phases of brand management, creative development and marketing activities for the College.
- Planning and implementing image and branding strategies in consultation with the Director, Marketing and Communications and other College employees. Developing College-wide marketing plans for academic programs.
- Planning and implementing effective student recruitment campaigns working closely with the Director, Marketing and Communications and other leaders responsible for domestic and international recruitment.
- Working in collaboration to develop integrated marketing and communications plans which incorporate clear objectives, benchmarks and evaluation measures for marketing activities and projects carried out in the Marketing and Communications Office (MCO).
- Overseeing the creation of all College marketing materials including print; digital and outdoor advertising; email marketing; content marketing; direct mail; video and photography; and, promotional and recruitment pieces.
- Creating College-wide process, procedures, standards and guidelines for brand management, marketing and creative development.
- Working with the Institutional Effectiveness department to conduct primary market research, compile data from secondary sources and interpret marketing data to provide the foundation for College marketing strategies.
- Providing strategic marketing expertise, advice and support to a wide range of College programs and departments.
- Ensuring quality of all major branding projects to maintain and enhance the image of the College.
- Managing the disbursement of the College’s annual advertising budget including out-of-home (OOH), traditional and digital.
- Developing detailed budgets for projects and ensuring that projects are carried out on time and within budget.
- Working collaboratively with the Manager, Digital Experience to manage digital campaigns using tools such as analytics, automation and personalization to improve conversion rates and generate more qualified leads through web, email, mobile and social channels.
- Managing workflow of marketing projects involving external creative development vendors and internal teams that include both employees within MCO and other College departments or faculties.
- Provides direction and leadership and ensures that there is planned professional development for employees under their portfolio.
- Hiring, managing, mentoring, evaluating and overseeing employees within the MCO for positions reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Creative Development.
- Actively modelling the Douglas College Core Competencies.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Established professional credibility as evidenced by a degree from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related area of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- More than five years of experience at a management or supervisory level in marketing.
- Understanding of the fundamentals of digital design, print production, graphic arts, photography, and videography.
- Advanced understanding of marketing in both traditional and digital environments.
- Proven record of leading a marketing and creative team.
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of developing marketing materials specific to audience and/or channel.
- Experienced project manager with specific experience managing diverse teams including contractors and unionized employees.
